There are times when we have to work on someone else’s schedule. The key to being happy at work is about self-sufficiency, not the money. If you don’t feel like you can control your workday you don’t need to put your best self on hold. If you want to manage your productivity on someone else’s schedule then here are some ways.
Make a Routine
It does not matter what type of work you are doing, it makes a great sense to make a routine. Set a time for some precise activities and keep stick to your plan. Set your calendar and make some group of blocks and assign some activities of those blocks. If you plan activities, do them and if anything is not planned then don’t do it. Plan for some free time. You may change your routine at certain times of a year but whatever your routine is, make a plan.
When it comes to complete the work, we rapidly switch between tasks. Sometimes, switching tasks is necessary and helpful. It is like someone is controlling traffic and that person should know about multiple traffic lanes simultaneously. Unread emails can distract you and for effective task switching, you need to be focused. In case, you need to fix your task in fifteen minutes then you should switch your task otherwise being in under pressure or rush, you will feel everything like an emergency. On the other hand, if you have three tasks in hand then switch those tasks in fifteen minutes. Otherwise, focus on one task and after completing, move on to another task. Complete those tasks that are physically near to each other.
Set Time for Emails
Emails are important no matter what type of business you do. If you are not doing any business then it depends on your position on what type of emails you deal with every day. It can be distracting to compose and respond to number or emails at the same time. There are times when you are working on some important business assignment but stops constantly due to emails that are flying in your inbox. Because of this, you have to set back your work and this takes you longer to finish it with each distraction. To deal with this, you can set a particular time to deal with emails every day. No doubt, important and critical emails should be given priority while other emails can wait.
No two people like to do the same work in the same way. Everyone has their own preferences. Some people like to work in the morning while other chooses to work in evenings. Different things motivate human and they like to work in their own way. This is actually healthy as it shows that an individual has a good understanding or his needs, likes, and dislikes. Having a high level of self-consciousness make a person manage his time well and thus give his best at work.
